Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
Reporting to the Capital Programme Manager, you will play a critical role overseeing the planning, implementation, and longer-term expiry programme for a PFI contract, and supporting delivery of capital and regeneration programmes within the Council’s Powering our Future Placemaking Mission.
This is an exciting and varied role in the Programme Management Office (PMO). Our team’s work will directly support the Council’s Cabinet and Corporate Management Team to achieve their ambitions for the future of the Council and the Borough. This role will give you the opportunity to work across the Council and with partners, enabling you to develop your experience across a range of service areas.
You will help the PMO:
1. Progress the effective and efficient delivery of the PFI Expiry Programme
2. Champion robust and consistent Programme and Project management standards and governance across the Council
3. Deliver assurances to the Council’s leadership teams on programme and project delivery and make recommendations resource allocation.
You will help to maintain the programme and pipeline of projects and will oversee effective development and delivery using proven project management tools. This will include capture and management of key project information, resource needs, risks/issues, interdependencies, governance arrangements, milestones, and stakeholder engagement amongst other key elements of project delivery.
You will be an ally for methodical and evidence-based project and programme management, encouraging, supporting and demonstrating robust project management standards and methodology through all stages, including development of business cases, options appraisals, project management documentation, risk registers and project plans. Your engagement across the organisation will help embed the understanding that evidence based and cross functional working adds value, helping to transform and innovate our business.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of project management techniques to deliver complex projects and organisational change is essential. You will need excellent communication skills, be able to be adaptive and work with a range of stakeholders. You should have sound knowledge and understanding of the significant issues that create challenge to delivery of capital projects, to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council specifically, and to the public sector in general.
This role is a fixed term post for 12 months at start date.
