Overview
Bury St Edmunds | Sunday - Wednesday 21:48-06:00 and Thursday 21:48-04:00, the rate of pay is £28.70 (Including 33% shift allowance) | 39 hours per week.
We’re home to household favourites like Branston Pickle and Sarson’s Vinegar, and we’re looking for an Engineering Team Member to join our night shift team at our Bury St Edmunds site. You’ll be part of a two-person crew that keeps production moving while the rest of the site sleeps, with autonomy, trust, and hands-on engineering.
What You’ll Do
This is a hands-on, reactive maintenance role where no two nights are the same.
* Respond to issues as they happen, diagnose, repair and get the lines back up and running quickly.
* Carry out planned maintenance and inspections during quieter periods.
* Keep accurate records of repairs and share technical feedback with the wider team.
* Work across all our production lines, from raw materials to finished jars.
* Support continuous improvement by suggesting better ways to keep our lines efficient and reliable.
You won’t be managing others, but you will play a crucial part in the heartbeat of the site, working alongside another skilled engineer and reporting directly to our Engineering Manager.
What You’ll Bring
* A time-served apprentice with an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent)
* Confident across mechanical and electrical maintenance, but especially strong electrically (or eager to build that strength)
* Skilled in fault finding, welding, and fitting
* Comfortable working independently and making decisions in the moment
* Curious, proactive, and eager to keep developing — we’ll back you with bespoke training plans, including Siemens automation training if you want to grow into controls and PLCs
Food manufacturing experience isn’t essential — if you’ve worked in fast-moving environments and want to move into food, we’ll support your onboarding.
We believe in doing things the right way, through teamwork, respect and continuous improvement.
Benefits
* Ongoing skills development and structured learning plans
* A supportive, close-knit team that looks out for each other
* The stability of a global, family-owned business that’s been making flavour for over 200 years
* The chance to build your expertise while working with iconic UK brands
Ready to make an impact behind the scenes?
Apply today and take pride in being the engineer who keeps the lines running, the jars filled and the nation’s favourite flavours flowing.
