Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements in accordance with applicable regulations.
Liaise with external auditors, banks, HMRC, and other stakeholders.
Advise the senior leadership team and governors on financial performance and strategic planning.
Oversee fee billing and credit control, working closely with the admissions and bursary teams.
Manage and develop a small finance team with a focus on high standards, accuracy, and service.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Person Specification
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Significant experience in financial management, ideally in an educational or not-for-profit setting.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
Proficient in financial systems and Excel; experience with Sage or similar accounting software preferred.
Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Desirable:
Experience within the independent school sector.
Familiarity with charity accounting (SORP).
Knowledge of school fee structures and pupil-related finance
