Job summary

We are looking for three compassionate, reflective, and motivated assistant psychologists to support various specialised pathways within Tameside and Glossop Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). You will be an integral part of a team delivering assessment, intervention, and multi-agency working for young people and families across the borough. Supported by other mental health, psychological, and therapeutic practitioners, you will facilitate resource development, service evaluation, and clinical interventions. You will have access to varied aspects of therapeutic delivery, alongside opportunities for training and development across the CAMHS care hub.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under close supervision from clinical psychologists, supporting their specific care pathway and the overall functioning of the wider team. Role-specific details are given below - we will ask at interview which post you feel you'd be best suited to.

Family Intervention and Therapy Service (FITS) AP

Working in partnership with Children's Services (Early Help and Social Care) to support young people, parents, and families with experience of developmental trauma, including:

* Assisting with consultations to social care practitioners
* Developing and delivering psychological training and resources
* Evaluating the service, contributing to service development, and supporting meaningful participation
* Under close supervision, delivering direct work with young people and families.

Neurodevelopmental AP

* Completing and supporting assessments (developmental history, ADOS)
* Formulating: to summarise people's needs and difficulties in line with the DSM criteria for autism, and presenting this in MDT meetings
* Interventions: offering ongoing emotional-regulation support to individuals and groups who are on the assessment pathway

Core pathway AP

* Supporting in assessment, formulation, and care planning with young people.
* Providing 1-2-1 support around emotional regulation, anxiety, low mood, and other presentations.
* Running group interventions focusing on, e.g. tics, anxiety and emotional regulation.
