Senior Manager role description We are recruiting a Senior Manager for a leading firm of Accountants in Bristol. The Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of clients, managing a team of managers and accountants, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services. The Senior Manager role combines technical expertise, leadership, client relationship management, and strategic input to support the growth and profitability of the practice. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of complex clients across multiple industries. Act as the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders. Provide proactive financial, tax, and business advisory services. Review accounts, tax returns, and other financial reports before partner approval. Ensure all client work is delivered on time and within budget. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and junior staff. Conduct performance reviews and support professional development. Allocate work across teams to ensure efficient resource utilisation. Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff. Technical Oversight Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax legislation. Provide technical guidance on complex accounting and tax matters. Maintain quality control procedures across client engagements. Stay updated on regulatory and professional developments. Business Development Identify opportunities to expand services within the client portfolio. Support partners with proposals, tenders, and client pitches. Build strong professional networks and referral relationships. Contribute to practice growth strategies. Practice Management Monitor client profitability and engagement budgets. Improve processes, systems, and efficiency within the practice. Support strategic initiatives and operational improvements. Ensure adherence to internal risk management and compliance policies. Skills and Experience Professionally qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent). Significant experience in an accountancy practice environment. Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax regulations. Experience managing client portfolios and leading teams. Excellent communication and relationship-management skills. Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
