A little more about your team… Our Highways team is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable transport infrastructure. The team brings together a wealth of expertise, including Principal and Senior Engineers who lead on strategic design and project delivery, supported by skilled Engineers and Technicians who ensure technical excellence. Alongside them, our apprentices contribute fresh ideas and enthusiasm, gaining hands-on experience as they develop their careers. Together, we work collaboratively to maintain and improve the local network, ensuring high standards and innovative solutions for the communities we serve. Align Property Services, who are we? We are an award-winning building design consultancy, recently named SME Employer of the Year at the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2025! Since 2016, we have welcomed 43 apprentices across a range of specialism including architecture, building and quantity surveying, civil engineering and mechanical and electrical engineering. What you’ll be doing As an Apprentice Highway Engineer, you’ll develop in designing and specifying infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage systems, and highway features. Using industry-standard tools like PDS, Civils 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroDrainage, you’ll contribute to both conceptual and detailed designs. You’ll work closely with a highly skilled and diverse multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable insight into other engineering and construction disciplines, and learning how to effectively coordinate and deliver successful projects that fulfil our client’s needs. For a full outline of the responsibilities of the role, please view the job description In return, you'll receive a structured apprenticeship program with degree-level progression, weekly day release to university, travel expenses covered, 25 days of annual leave, and opportunities for professional development. What we are looking for Meets UCAS point requirements for the associated degree course Achieved or predicted A Level grades BBC (or equivalent) are typically required, although certain apprenticeship programmes may specify BBB or higher Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C / 5–9), including Maths, English, and Science Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Holds a UK Driving Licence or is actively working towards obtaining one About the Qualification: You will start your Degree Apprenticeship in September 2026, attending a local University one day a week and working towards achieving a full undergraduate degree. The apprenticeship supports career growth through blended learning. It offers business and role-specific training, mentoring, and practical experience. It includes an induction, training days, on-the-job learning, and access to readily available resources. Together with the support from your team, we will work closely with you over the course of your apprenticeship to support and plan a development pathway that suits you. A Degree Apprenticeship usually takes between 5-6 years to complete, including End Point Assessment.
