Full Time Permanent Role

Our client, a leading Trade Association based in Southwark, Central London, is seeking a Head of Membership Engagement to join their team.

If you are a Head of Membership with proven experience in member engagement, working for similar organisations such as Trade Associations, Professional Bodies, Membership Organisations, Not-for-Profit, Charities, Engineering, Built Environment, Construction, Property, Building Safety, Real Estate, Housing, Surveying, Planning, or the Public Sector, we would love to hear from you.


The Role of Head of Membership Engagement

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering membership engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies to ensure the organisation continues to:

* Deliver excellent support to members
* Ensure retention of current members
* Increase recruitment of new members


Duties and Responsibilities

* Review current approaches to membership engagement, recruitment, and retention, and devise strategies to strengthen these activities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with members at a senior level
* Identify prospective companies for membership
* Implement a membership growth strategy targeting prospective members across the UK, aiming for annual growth
* Engage with existing and potential members at CEO/exec level
* Communicate membership benefits effectively
* Respond to queries about member benefits
* Develop processes and systems to enhance the member experience
* Create feedback loops and collaborate across teams to represent member interests
* Design and execute an annual Membership Survey to assess support and identify improvements
* Manage new membership applications and renewals, coordinating with the Finance Director on rates and payments
* Oversee administrative aspects of member meetings, including minute-taking and action tracking
* Promote member activities through various channels such as the website and communications


Person Specification – Knowledge and Experience

* Significant experience in growing membership and managing membership services in relevant organisations
* Experience in developing administrative processes
* Strategic planning and business development skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at executive level
* Experience managing CRM databases

The role requires strong networking and teamwork skills across the organisation. While primarily based in London, attendance at events and meetings across England and Wales is expected.
