We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to take on the important role of Electrical Technician at our East Hyde Sewage Treatment Works.
You will join a close-knit team with diverse skills and experience, all performing at a high level. This role offers excellent learning potential with the opportunity to cross-skill into other disciplines. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs promptly to prevent process interruptions.
* Diagnose and repair complex faults during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, referencing up-to-date knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, VSDs, and chemical dosing equipment.
* Participate in standby rota following training.
* Complete licensing to operate sites and learn water treatment processes.
Location: East Hyde Sewage Treatment Works, Luton, LU1 3TS
Working Pattern: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby rota payments and overtime potential increasing earnings by up to £10,000 per year after training.
Includes a company van and fuel card.
What you should bring to the role
* Salary up to £39,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus standby and overtime.
* 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is essential.
* Experience in electrical systems, ideally with an apprenticeship in a multi-skilled capacity.
* NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering is advantageous but not mandatory.
* Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, and repairing electrical plant equipment.
* Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, VSDs, and switchgear is essential.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the industry.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided).
* Full UK driving license is required.
