Overview
Band 7 CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner for Youth Partnership Service (formerly Luton Youth Offending Service). This is a multi-agency provision in South Bedfordshire. The post holder will work within the Youth Justice System with a caseload of young people referred through the YOS, following the CAMHS/LYOS operational policy.
The post holder will work as an autonomous and accountable practitioner within an integrated team, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, and liaison with all agencies involved with the service user. This is a community-based post embedded within LYOS, predominantly delivered within the YOS, providing specialist advice/consultation and CAMHS mental health assessment. The post is closely linked to Bedfordshire and Luton CAMHS and includes liaison with other agencies, secure estates, specialized clinical interventions, clinical supervision and teaching of multi-agency staff and students.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of young people referred through the Youth Offending Service (YOS).
* Conduct assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in line with the service model.
* Provide specialist CAMHS mental health assessment and offer consultation to multi-agency partners.
* Liaise effectively with other child agencies (criminal justice, social care, education) and contribute to CAMHS through evidence-based practice and research knowledge.
* Support, supervise and teach multi-agency staff and students as required.
Qualifications
* Essential: Recognised child and adolescent mental health professional qualification/registration (e.g., RMHN, Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Social Work; BABCP accredited); continued professional development.
* Understanding of NHS/Social Care policies related to Mental Health and Youth Offending Services; awareness of Child Protection Policy.
* Desirable: Training in DBT.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of assessing and working with children in acute mental health crisis.
* Desirable: Minimum of two years' experience in CAMHS and/or work with young adults in youth offending or mental health services; experience with Routine Outcome Measures.
Knowledge
* Well-developed assessment skills in child and adolescent mental health.
* Ability to provide tailored psychosocial/cognitive therapy to children, adolescents and families.
* Ability to liaise with child agencies (criminal justice, social services, education) and contribute to CAMHS using research and evidence-based practice for 0-18 years.
* Knowledge of relevant national/local policies/legislation; awareness of CYP IAPT principles (Desirable).
Other requirements
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order) and requires Disclosure to the DBS. UK registration is required.
