Posted: 18 September
Offer description

Fixed Term until March 2027, Part Time 0.8. Exact days and times are negotiable (within Mon-Fri working week).

ESOL Hotels Project Fixed Term Tutor – Bristol Community Learning.

Do you want to be part of a dynamic team creating high quality learning experiences for adult learners in Bristol? We are looking for tutors who have worked successfully with hard-to-reach learners in community settings. You are someone who is not afraid of challenge, can work flexibly according to the needs of the service and has a real passion for teaching and learning.

This role involves working in Initial Accommodation settings in central Bristol, providing ESOL classes to residents. You will engage learners by setting high quality learning tasks and reviewing learner progress with them. You will liaise with and be supported by development workers, learning support and team leaders according to what specialist needs are required. You are digitally literate and able to embed digital skills in lessons and use online platforms and systems to share key documentation.

We work mainly during term time, following Bristol schools' term dates. We work within the OFSTED framework and apply high quality standards to our provision. We support tutors with training and coaching to meet these standards.

Please see our person specification for examples of the qualifications we accept.

What do we pay?

This position is 0.8 FTE (BG10 £36,363 pro-rata) exact days to be confirmed. It is offered on an 18-month fixed term contract.

Who are we?

The purpose of our team is to provide courses for vulnerable adults with few or no formal qualifications and/or those facing multiple barriers in life. Our learners can include those with mental and physical health challenges, communities including migrants with English as a second language, individuals in addiction recovery, and others with complex needs.

We help build confidence whilst developing skills and knowledge so our learners can progress towards further education and work. We have high aspirations for those we work with, providing courses specifically designed to meet their needs. In May this year we were once again graded as "Good" overall by Ofsted including an Outstanding for "Behaviour and Attitudes." Community Learning's main base is at The Park Centre in South Bristol, but most of our classes take place in a range of community venues, across the city.

Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.

Why Bristol City Council?
