JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE

Job Summary:
To work as part of the primary healthcare team providingPersonal Medical Services to the patients of the Practice following NMCguidance, UKCC Code of Conduct and practice protocols/policies.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist inand perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursingstaff and GPs:
1. Cervical cytology LBC screening
2. Wound care/Dressings
3. Removal of Sutures/clips
4. New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
5. Travel Clinic
6. ECGs
7. Asthma/Peak Flow Readings
8. COPD monitoring
9. Sexual Health/Contraception
10. Health promotion
11. Hypertension Management and 24 hour BP monitoring
12. Ear irrigation
13. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
14. CHD Monitoring
15. Diabetic Monitoring
16. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
17. Assisting GPs with minor surgery, contraception and assisting with coil fittings
18. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
19. Maintaining and running of chronic disease registers as agreed within the practice
20. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
21. Provide assessment, treatment and prescribing where appropriate
Othertasks will include
22. Supporting other team members
23. Active monitoring of QOF targets and requirements
24. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
25. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
26. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
27. In participation with the practice manager, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care
28. Assist in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy, policy and protocols
29. Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical system (EMIS LV) as appropriate
30. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice
31. A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
32. Undertaking the mental health reviews as appropriate.
33. Attend and participate in nurse and practice meetings when required.
34. Undertaking home visits where appropriate.
35. See extra patient as and when required.
36. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

48. Know how to use the personal security system at the practice.

65. Registered nurse.
