SEN Teaching Assistant – Sport & Activity Focused 1:1 and Classroom Support | SEMH | Full Time
Location: B95, Birmingham
Pay: £90.00 – £110.00 per day
Contract: Full time, Monday–Friday (until the end of the academic year)
An exciting opportunity for a sporty, energetic, and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 9–16 with SEMH needs, delivering a mix of 1:1 intervention and classroom-based support in a positive, inclusive school setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, engaging, and hands-on, using sport and movement to support behaviour, focus, and emotional wellbeing.

Provide 1:1 support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Support pupils within the classroom environment, helping them access learning alongside peers
Use sport, physical activity, and movement-based strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
Assist with small group activities and whole-class learning when required
Encourage teamwork, resilience, confidence, and positive behaviour
Support pupils during PE lessons, outdoor learning, and structured breaktimes
Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to implement tailored strategiesRequirements:
Experience supporting children or young people aged 9–16 with SEMH/SEN (essential)
A sporty, active, and energetic approach
Patient, nurturing, and resilient attitude
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Confident working independently and as part of a professional team
Commitment to working full time until the end of the academic year
Relevant qualification or extensive experience in a similar role
Able to provide 2 references covering the past two years (one must reference work with children)
