Want to get your foot in the door of a secondary school, but keen to do more than just “keep an eye on the class”? This could be right up your street.
We’re working with a group of friendly, well-organised secondary schools across Telford and Shrewsbury who are on the lookout for motivated graduates to join their teams. If you’re thinking about teaching long-term, this is a brilliant way to build real classroom experience, the kind that actually boosts your confidence, not just your CV.
This role goes beyond standing at the front and hoping for the best. You’ll be part of the classroom, supporting learning, building relationships, and gradually taking on more as you find your feet.
What you’ll be doing
* Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 in a variety of subjects
* Running small group sessions and helping lessons stay on track
* Covering classes when needed, with guidance from experienced staff
* Becoming a familiar, trusted face in the classroom
* Encouraging confidence, engagement, and positive learning habits
* Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams to support student progress
-----------------------------------
What we’re looking for
* A recent graduate, any subject welcome, though English, Maths, Science or Humanities are a bonus
* Calm, confident, and able to think on your feet
* Strong communication skills and a natural way with people
* A genuine interest in working with young people
* Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching or youth work is a big plus
* Right to work in the UK
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or happy to apply for one
* Two recent references
