Nazareth House Care Village is an 88-bed care home dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to our residents. We are currently seeking a Housekeeper to join our friendly team on a permanent, part-time basis.
Purpose of the Job:
To ensure that all laundry-including residents' personal clothing, bedding, towels, and staff uniforms-is washed, dried, ironed, and returned to a high standard. All work must be carried out respectfully, maintaining residents' dignity, privacy, and independence at all times. Tasks should be completed in a courteous, friendly, and efficient manner.
Job Summary:
As a Laundry Assistant, you will play a vital role in keeping our home running smoothly by ensuring clean and hygienic laundry services. Full training will be provided. Duties include sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing laundry while following infection-control and health & safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Laundry Operations
* Collect, sort, and process residents' laundry and home linens.
* Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment.
* Follow correct washing cycles and temperature requirements.
* Fold, hang, and label items correctly to ensure they are returned to the right residents.
Hygiene & Infection Control
* Follow infection-control procedures for soiled or contaminated laundry.
* Use chemicals and detergents safely and correctly.
* Maintain strict hygiene in the laundry room at all times.
Organisation & Teamwork
* Keep the laundry area clean, tidy, and organised ("clean as you go" policy).
* Report any damaged items, maintenance issues, or equipment faults promptly.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high service standards.
* Perform additional tasks as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Detailed Laundry Duties:
Laundry Room
* Sort items by colour, fabric, and wash requirements.
* Load and unload machines safely and efficiently.
* Ensure items are fully dried, ironed/pressed, and prepared for delivery.
Residents' Clothing
* Handle personal clothing with care and respect.
* Check proper labelling and ensure no items are misplaced.
* Fold or hang items neatly and return them promptly.
Linen & Towels
* Process bed linen, pillowcases, duvet covers, towels, and other home linens.
* Ensure all items meet cleanliness and presentation standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
* No formal experience required; full training provided.
* Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
* Good communication skills and attention to detail.
* Flexibility to work weekends (one weekend on, one weekend off).
Hours & Benefits:
* 24 hours per week, part-time permanent.
* Competitive pay: £12.21 per hour.
