Support Worker – Children’s Residential Care - DAYS only OR NIGHTS only
Location - Walsall
Hours - full time 38 hrs per week
Days or Nights - available
This is an exciting and rewarding role. Salary £12.30 - £13.20 per hour (based on competency qualifying criteria) plus premium rates for sleeps (£62.55 for day workers, minimum 1 per week) and regular overtime opportunities. An extensive benefits package is available—details below.
What you can expect
You will be working as a Support Worker at our 9 bedded home for children aged 4 - 18 with severe and complex care needs, acquired brain injury, complex learning disabilities and associated behavioural challenges.
Managing health needs of the children is a significant part of our service, to meet their unique health care needs.
Our home provides a safe and loving environment where we promote children to achieve goals and experience life.
Shifts
You will be working a mixture of early shifts, late shifts, split shifts, long days. The rota includes alternate weekends and covers a full working week Monday-Sunday.

What we would like from you — Qualifications / Experience
* Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care Pathway). Candidates who do not hold this qualification will be supported to complete after probation.
* You will have experience of working with children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities, Autism, ADHD, sensory impairment, and associated behavioural challenges and/or complex care needs.
* A background in nursing would be beneficial as you will be supporting children with complex health care needs.
* Car drivers are preferred as part of the role involves taking the children to appointments and to activities in the community.
* A background in an SEN educational setting may also be beneficial.
Skills / Abilities
* You’re a passionate person who wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
* The ability to communicate on various levels, including good recording and reporting skills.
* Working knowledge of, following, and working to Care and Support Plans.
* Experience of Conflict Management and dealing with difficult, high-pressure situations.
* You will be a supportive, caring, approachable and reliable team player.
* An enthusiastic person who brings fresh ideas and can work on their own initiative.
* Be able to use an iPad/laptop in order to access our online systems.
* Proactive in booking appointments, planning activities, organising contact, chasing important information.
You will need to be flexible in your approach—things can change quickly with the children we support.
You will receive a starting salary of £12.30 - £13.20 per hour (based on competency qualifying criteria) plus premium rates for Sleeps £62.55 (min 1 per week) and overtime opportunities.
