Assistant or Associate Professor (Power Electronics) (31084-0725)

We invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the field of Power Electronics. The post is on the Research and Teaching Pathway. This post aligns to the Power Electronics & Control Cluster within the School of Engineering.


Responsibilities

* Teach to the highest quality on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Engineering.
* Develop and deliver high quality research in power converter design, modelling, hardware realisation, and control, with relevance to electrification challenges such as renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and/or sustainable transport.
* Pursue research that makes fundamental contributions while addressing real-world, industrial challenges with practical relevance; potentially work across disciplines.
* Align research with the University’s Research Technology Platforms and established infrastructure where possible, and contribute to the School’s collaborative, translational, and industrially engaged environment.
* Engage with higher education pedagogy and develop novel teaching methods, embracing changes in teaching technology and expectations.


About You / Qualifications

* You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline.
* For an Assistant Professor appointment, demonstrate the capability to establish an independent research activity with potential to become internationally leading.
* For an Associate Professor appointment, have an established high-quality independent research activity with substantial external funding and experience in teaching.
* There is a probationary period for Assistant Professors (usually five years) with reduced teaching and administration load to establish a research group; successful probation leads to promotion to Associate Professor.
* At either level, initiate, develop and deliver high quality research, publish top-tier journal papers, and contribute to teaching activities.


About The Department

The School of Engineering is multidisciplinary and pursues internationally leading research. The Power Electronics & Control Cluster will include PEATER and ICSE groups; the cluster will comprise approximately 12 academic staff with research in silicon carbide device development, smart grids, drives and electrical machine control. Warwick operates Research Technology Platforms (RTPs) enabling access to high-end facilities across departments.
