Salary: G6 £31,537 – £34,434 (pro‑rate to hours worked). 5% unsociable hours payment. Qualified starting salary £32,597 (pro‑rate). Unqualified starting salary £31,537 (pro‑rate).
About the Service
Bluebells Short Breaks Service provides residential short‑breaks for children and young people within the Walsall area. It has a longstanding reputation for providing quality care and support to children with additional needs.
Responsibilities
* Work directly with children and young people to meet all care needs during short‑break stays.
* Develop, build and maintain excellent relationships with children, families, parents, carers and the wider professional network.
* Uphold a clear and robust safeguarding approach.
* Maintain detailed records and support children’s development and well‑being.
* Cover a range of shifts including mornings, daytime and evenings from Thursday afternoon to Monday afternoon, within school holidays and public bank holidays; occasional overnight sleep‑in duties may be required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience working with children in a residential short‑break setting or other relevant/transferable experience.
* Patient, nurturing and child‑focused with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to bring a sense of fun, energy and creativity to relationships with children and their families.
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
* Minimum age 22 years (must be at least 4 years older than the oldest resident).
* Enhanced DBS check required. Declaration required for overseas living/working; may need Overseas Criminal Records Certificate or Statement of Good Conduct.
* Ability to communicate accurately in spoken English (English Language Fluency Duty).
* Capability to work the stipulated shift pattern: Thursday Afternoons through Monday Afternoons, including holidays and overnight duties where required.
