Applications are invited for a Consultant Breast and General Radiologist based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. This is a new post to support the increasing demand for breast imaging and cross‑sectional imaging. It offers a split role within Breast Imaging and General Radiology (70:30). The Breast service is integral to the Imaging Department, providing NHSBSP screening and local symptomatic services. Equipment includes Siemens Digital Mammographic systems, Canon Ultrasound, and 3 MR scanners for breast imaging. The post holder will deliver breast screening and symptomatic care and support cross‑sectional imaging. Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC, a License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register (or be within six months of completing training). Shortlisted candidates will visit the department before interview. The proposed AAC date is 01.05.2026. The department is supported by Specialist Trainees (ST) on rotation through Health Education England (NW) and by Radiographers, Sonographers, Medical Imaging Assistants, Secretaries, and Clerical Staff.
The post holder will participate in the on‑call rota. A remote CT reporting service operates independently from the on‑call radiologist between 2000‑0900 hrs on weekdays and 1700‑0700 hrs on weekends.

The post is offered at 10 PAs. Additional allocations include 0.5 APA for cross‑cover and 0.5 APA for on‑calls, reviewed annually as part of job planning. Direct Clinical Care (DCC) involves 8 PAs (clinical activity, related admin, on‑call duties), while Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) takes 2 PAs per week for teaching, training, education, CPD, clinical audit, appraisal, and service development.
