Role Overview
Be part of a team that visits older people in their own homes to support reducing their risk of falls and maintaining independence. The service operates Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, across Leeds citywide.
As a Therapy Assistant Practitioner, you will conduct independent and joint visits to assist Physiotherapists in complex falls management. This role offers opportunities to develop skills in exercise provision, supported by attendance at the Otago exercise training course. The service is multidisciplinary, working alongside an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Physiotherapists, and Pharmacists.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching, supervising, monitoring, and progressing falls prevention home exercise programs and mobility practices, including vestibular exercises.
2. Fitting and instructing on the use of basic mobility aids and activities of daily living equipment.
3. Providing feedback to Physiotherapists regarding patient progress.
4. Taking blood pressure readings and reporting findings to Physiotherapists or Pharmacists.
5. Gathering information and liaising with Physiotherapists if a patient reports a fall.
Candidate Requirements
Excellent communication skills and experience working with older people in a multidisciplinary setting are essential. Previous community NHS experience in a patient-facing role, preferably as a therapy assistant with exercise experience, is required. A full UK driving license and access to a suitable vehicle are also mandatory.
