Overview Of The Role
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland’s water and wastewater challenges. We are expanding and need experienced electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) engineers in our offices in Wales, Birmingham and Bristol to support projects across the full lifecycle – from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Electrical power distribution design
* Control system design
* Specifying local renewable and back‑up generation systems
* Developing plant layouts
* Cabling and installation design
* Instrumentation selection
* Lightning protection assessments
* Writing system control strategies
* Factory and site acceptance tests of equipment
Build strong relationships with clients and contractors, foster teamwork, and manage design delivery. Opportunities are available to advance into people management, commercial roles or technical leadership.
Candidate Specification
We are looking for a driven individual who can take wide responsibilities and progress professionally.
Essential Criteria
* Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
* Experience in electrical and/or control engineering design/consultancy
* Strong communication skills to interact with other disciplines and clients and promote the team
* Capability to manage design delivery and projects
* Team leadership ability to manage and motivate individuals consistently
* Willingness to contribute to and develop technical knowledge networks
* Drive to stay abreast of professional development and current or emerging technical solutions
Desirable Criteria
* Master’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
* Chartered status with a recognised Professional Institution
* Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry
* Good understanding of pipeline hydraulics, and water and wastewater treatment processes
Experience in the UK water sector is advantageous, but not necessary.
