This senior role requires deep expertise bridging SAP ABAP technical development with functional business process knowledge across Order-to-Cash (OTC), Sales and Distribution (SD), Logistics Execution (LE), and Materials Management (MM). The successful candidate will act as the critical link between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring seamless implementations across greenfield, brownfield, and hybrid S/4HANA landscapes. The postholder will work across the full project lifecycle from requirements gathering, solution architecture, and technical design through to coding, testing, deployment, post-go-live hypercare, production support, and continuous process improvement KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Business Analysis & Solution Design Engage with internal and external business stakeholders to analyse business procedures, clarify requirements, and define the scope of SAP system solutions across OTC, SD, LE, and MM processes. Conduct feasibility studies and gap analyses for SAP developments, evaluating costs, benefits, and technical approaches, and presenting findings and proposals to senior stakeholders. Define functional specifications and translate business requirements into technically detailed SAP design documents (RICEFW specifications, process flows, data mapping). Lead architectural discussions and define reusable SAP framework components, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and SAP best practices. Advise on the adoption of new SAP technologies, emerging functionality in S/4HANA, and the potential introduction of new system integrations and platforms. SAP ABAP Technical Development Design, develop, and maintain SAP ABAP programs including Classical and ALV Reports, Data Dictionary Objects, Smart Forms, Adobe/PDF Forms, and SAP Scripts. Develop and enhance RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows) based on agreed technical specifications. Build interfaces and integrations using RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDoc, OData services (CRUD operations), and SAP CPI/APIs including file upload/download functionality. Apply ABAP Object-Oriented techniques, user exits, BAdIs, enhancement framework, and implicit/explicit enhancements across multiple SAP modules. Perform ABAP debugging, root cause analysis, and performance tuning of custom developments in live production environments. Develop and support SAP S/4HANA-specific developments including OData services, One API, Fiori application integration, and BRF applications. OTC, SD, LE & MM Functional Expertise Configure and support SD pricing procedures, condition types, access sequences, billing types, billing plans, milestone billing, downpayments, and revenue account determination. Work on intercompany pricing, free goods, manual and header pricing, pricing routines and enhancements, and third-party pricing tools (CPQ, PricingFx, Vistex). Support logistics and shipment configuration including route determination using connection points and stages, shipment types, item categories, and activity profiles. Manage 3PL warehouse integration, Make-to-Order (MTO), Make-to-Stock (MTS), subcontracting, consignment, and Stock Transfer Order (STO) processes. Configure and support eInvoice and eDocument compliance solutions including Basware, Peppol (KSeF, SDI) across multi-country implementations. Support VAT and tax determination for UK and European markets, including Intra-EU taxes, GST, excise duty, indirect tax, export taxes, and SEZ taxes. Integration & Cross-Module Delivery Lead technical design for enterprise SAP integrations including EDI/ALE/IDoc with 3PL, eCommerce platforms, MDM, ESKER, Salesforce, and Einvoice platforms. Manage cross-module integration across FICO, MM, WM, PP, PS, HCM, and QM; experienced with ATP, aATP, PAL, BOP, and variant configuration. Support master data migration using LSMW, BAPI, BADI, LTMC; manage ECC to S/4HANA data migration including Z-objects, Business Partner (BP), CVI, and FSCM. Integrate SAP with external platforms and digital payment systems using APIs, web services, IDocs, SAP CPI, and middleware technologies. Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management Lead and participate in end-to-end SAP implementations, global rollouts, ECC to S/4HANA system conversions, upgrades, and AMS support projects. Prepare Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional/technical specifications, test scripts, and cutover activity plans. Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT): training and guiding super users through test scenarios, resolving issues, and documenting sign-off. Provide production support and hypercare activities, resolving business-critical issues and coordinating with functional and technical teams. Work in Agile/SAFe project environments using delivery tools including JIRA, ServiceNow, SolMan, and Confluence. Train and guide business users and super users on SAP Fiori applications, new processes, and system functionality. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Experience Minimum 10 years of SAP experience with a strong techno-functional profile spanning ABAP development and OTC/SD functional consulting. Demonstrable involvement in a minimum of 3 end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementations, system conversions, or major upgrade projects. Experience in global rollout projects and AMS (Application Management and Support) delivery. Track record of working across multiple industry sectors (e.g. manufacturing, energy, HVAC, automotive, retail, FMCG, pharmaceuticals). Technical Skills Expert-level SAP ABAP: Data Dictionary, Classical/Interactive/ALV Reports, modularisation techniques, RICEFW development, ABAP Objects. Strong expertise in SAP enhancement techniques: User Exits, BAdIs, Enhancement Framework (implicit and explicit). Proficiency in OData services, SAP Fiori/UI5 integration, BRF applications, and One API on S/4HANA. Interface development: RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDoc, EDI, APIs, SAP CPI, file-based integrations. Adobe Forms, Smart Forms, BRF, Output Management (OPD/NACE), and digital signatures. eInvoice/eDocument frameworks: Peppol, KSeF, SDI, Basware — multi-country implementation experience is highly desirable. Functional & Process Knowledge Deep end-to-end understanding of Order-to-Cash (OTC) and SD business processes: pricing, billing, logistics, returns, and ARM processes. Strong knowledge of UK and European VAT and tax compliance, including Intra-EU, GST, excise duty, and indirect tax structures. Cross-module expertise: FICO, MM, WM, PP, PS, QM with integration design experience. Experience with aATP, product allocation, backorder processing (BOP), and variant configuration. Exposure to foreign trade, document compliance, eInvoice, eWay bill, and B2B/B2C frameworks. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience). SAP S/4HANA Certification (Sales 1809/1909 or equivalent module) — desirable. Certified SAFe Agilist or equivalent Agile qualification — desirable. Soft Skills & Professional Attributes Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts for business audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; experienced in root cause analysis across complex, multi-system SAP landscapes. Able to work independently and as part of distributed global project teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business case development, gap identification, and solution recommendations.
