An opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join a busy finance team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting operational and strategic decision-making through accurate financial insights across the group
Job Description:
1. As the Financial Accountant, you will prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
2. Ensure that the business has appropriate financial controls, processes, and policies to enhance business performance and protect company assets
3. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
4. As the Financial Accountant, you will take full ownership of overhead costs for the Group and complete monthly analysis
5. As the Financial Accountant, you will support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including variance analysis and commentary
6. Assist with capital expenditure tracking and fixed asset management
7. As the Financial Accountant, you will do the preparation of VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and other statutory filings across the UK and Europe
8. Liaise with external auditors and provide documentation for audit processes
9. As the Financial Accountant, you will implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures
10. Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and financial reporting
11. As the Financial Accountant, you will conduct financial analysis to support pricing strategies, cost reduction initiatives, and investment decisions
12. Support ERP system improvements and ensure accurate financial data integration
13. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by governing bodies
14. Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry best practices
15. Mentor junior finance staff and contribute to team development
The role would suit candidates with the following experience:
16. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
17. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential for the role
18. Previous experience working as a Financial Accountant or similar is essential
19. Proven experience in financial accounting within a manufacturing or industrial setting is desirable, not essential
20. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Sage/NetSuite desirable)
21. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modelling
22. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
This role is commutable from: Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, Stafford, Stone, Crewe, Keele, Uttoxeter, Leek, Nantwich
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:oo pm / 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 Per Annum
