Job Summary
This post is suitable for registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. South Lakes Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) is recruiting a qualified Band 6 Mental Health Nurse. The applicant must be registered with a professional regulating body. This is a permanent 37.5‑hour contract. The successful candidate may be required to work in either the Non‑Psychosis Service Line or the Psychosis Service Line and undertake CMHT tasks as required.
The team serves the population of South Lakes within the Lake District and has its base in Kendal. It is an established team with a friendly and supportive culture. Visible and supportive leadership is committed to clinical supervision and professional development.
This is a demanding, busy service role. Ideally, you will have current or previous experience of working within a mental health setting, be clinically confident with individuals with complex needs, and work effectively in a multi‑professional context. You should have a collaborative and enthusiastic approach and a passion for developing recovery‑based approaches for adults with severe and enduring mental health needs.
You will be a good communicator with a flexible, adaptable and proactive approach to your work.
Responsibilities
* Act as a Care Coordinator and undertake assessments for people referred into the service.
* Manage a caseload of service users with a range of complex needs.
* Develop care plans and deliver evidence‑based interventions and treatments, while managing risks in the community.
* Serve as team duty worker: manage unplanned patient work, respond to escalation of risk or crisis situations, and triage new referrals.
* Contribute to the learning and development of junior team members and lead or contribute to projects identified by the South Lakes CMHT leadership team.
* Work within the service hours of 9.00 am to 5.00 pm; some out‑of‑hours and weekend work may be required.
Qualifications & Person Specification
* Professional qualification; currently registered with a professional regulating body.
* Knowledge of a range of evidence‑based therapeutic interventions.
* Knowledge of the recovery model.
* Understanding of the Care Programme Approach.
* Knowledge of current Mental Health policy and legislation.
* Experience that demonstrates skills in these areas.
