Responsibilities
* Assist the Elective Admissions Manager in administering elective waiting lists in conjunction with all clinicians and managers.
* Coordinate inpatient waiting lists, ensuring accurate maintenance, and allocate admission dates within the Trust's waiting time standards and Elective Access Policy.
* Provide cross cover for planned and unplanned leave across all elective admissions and allied areas.
* Ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution.
* Maintain and validate the patient administration system and computerised waiting list, adding, removing and suspending patients as required.
* Ensure waiting lists are managed in line with Trust and national targets.
* Analyse the Patient Tracking List (PLT) and PAS to generate waiting lists and liaise with clinicians to allocate "to come in" (TCI) dates, maximizing session utilisation.
* Produce accurate theatre and endoscopy lists, recording all relevant information.
* Arrange for patients to come in for surgery/procedures; contact patients to offer TCI dates and forward required documentation in line with booking guidelines for fast track, urgent, or routine cases.
* Assist administrative colleagues as needed.
* Perform area‑specific tasks, working independently, planning and prioritising workload.
* Provide other administrative services such as filing, photocopying, typing, and handling mail.
* Demonstrate duties to new starters when required.
* Undertake any additional duties directed by the Elective Admissions Manager, Speciality Manager or Supervisor/Team Leader.
* Attend staff development reviews and mandatory training as directed by the Elective Admissions Office Manager.
Visa & Immigration
This position is not eligible for a certificate of sponsorship as it does not appear on the skilled worker visa occupation list. Applicants holding a different type of visa that allows work in the UK are welcome to apply. If a visa expires or changes status during employment, the Trust will review employment, which may result in termination to comply with immigration legislation.
Background Checks
Positions requiring a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check will be administered by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust will recover the cost from the first full month’s salary (Enhanced £54.40, Standard or Basic £26.40). Applicants confirm they have read and understood the DBS Privacy Policy. A paid annual DBS Update Service is available for £16 per year.
