As a Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner, youll provide nurturing, consistent care in a safe and structured environment. Youll support children to understand their past experiences, manage their feelings, and develop self-esteem, while working closely with a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team. This is a role for someone who is reflective, resilient, and passionate about making a long-term impact.
What youll do
Provide consistent, nurturing care and act as a trusted adult role model
Build one-to-one therapeutic relationships and offer individual Link Worker support
Support children with daily routines, education, health, play, and activities
Contribute to care planning, record keeping, and reflective practice
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe, emotionally containing home
Use physical intervention only as a last resort (full training provided)
Who youll work with Our residential team includes a Registered Home Manager, Therapeutic Home Manager, Deputy Home Manager, Senior Therapeutic Care Workers, and Therapeutic Care Workers. The school team includes senior and therapeutic education practitioners, behaviour support staff, and teachers. Youll also be supported by leadership, therapies, administration, housekeeping, maintenance, cleaning, and catering staff, all working together to ensure children thrive in a safe and caring environment.
Supporting our staff We know working with traumatised children can be emotionally demanding. Thats why we provide regular supervision, group reflection sessions, clinical discussions, and access to professional therapy or analysis. Continuous internal and external training ensures staff are supported and able to develop their skills while delivering the highest standard of care.
What were looking for
Experience with children or vulnerable people (personal or professional)
Calm, resilient, and reflective approach to challenging situations
Willingness to work within a therapeutic framework
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare desirable
Commitment to at least two years in the role
Additional details
Shift work including sleep-ins
Flexibility required, including occasional overtime
Must be physically able to meet the demands of the role
Driving and travel between locations required
Enhanced DBS check required
