A leading technology innovator at the forefront of developing sophisticated solutions in the defence and security industry is looking for an FPGA Engineer. Their cutting-edge products are designed to protect against emerging threats, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability. This role will be responsible for developing and improving advanced electronic systems used for signal detection and response. It involves implementing complex signal processing into production-ready firmware and working closely with RF and embedded technologies. One thing to note is that this role will require full relocation to Sydney, Australia. The company is willing to sponsor an Australian work visa Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement embedded software systems for real-time RF digital data processing across wide frequency spectrums. Apply expertise in radio frequency (RF) concepts, FPGA and ARM processor development, digital signal processing, and communication systems. Conduct research and scope out requirements for the integration of proprietary and open standard transmission protocols, focusing on data recovery and signal optimization. Enhance the core technology for drone recognition with a focus on improving performance, accuracy, stability, and long-term maintenance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new features and system enhancements. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. Proficient in programming, debugging, and verifying Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog for FPGA development. Hands-on experience with FPGA tools like Vivado (preferred), Quartus, and Vitis. Skilled in designing and implementing high-performance FPGA architectures with low-latency and high-throughput capabilities. Experience in building automated testing and validation frameworks for embedded systems. Strong C/C++ firmware development experience for FPGA modules, with proficiency in scripting languages such as Python (preferred). Familiarity with Linux operating systems and experience working with PCB schematics, board bring-ups, and hardware debugging. Solid understanding of RF transmission protocols and RF systems. A strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Experience or knowledge in applying Machine Learning (ML) techniques within FPGA systems is a plus.
