*INTERNAL ONLY* Specialist Health Visitor

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 7 practitioner to provide specialist leadership in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) within Health Visiting Services. This role is pivotal in improving outcomes for babies, parents and families by promoting strong early relationships, emotional wellbeing and healthy development from pregnancy through infancy.
As a clinical expert, the post holder will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care and provide advice, supervision and support to colleagues across the service. You will strengthen workforce confidence and capability in PIMH, ensuring care is safe, effective and person‑centred.
The role requires strong collaboration with multi‑agency partners to support integrated working, safeguard vulnerable families and promote positive experiences for service users. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement and training, helping to embed best practice and drive continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities
* Provide specialist clinical leadership in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) across Health Visiting Services.
* Deliver and support high‑quality, evidence‑based assessment, care planning and interventions for families.
* Offer expert advice, guidance and safeguarding support to practitioners and partner agencies.
* Lead the development and embedding of PIMH practice, including supporting perinatal champions.
* Provide clinical supervision, training and mentorship to staff to build confidence and capability.
* Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners to improve outcomes for babies and families.
* Contribute to workforce development through delivery of training and teaching programmes.
* Support service improvement through audit, evaluation, benchmarking and use of patient feedback.
* Monitor and report on service activity, outcomes and impact to inform service development.
* Assist in the day‑to‑day operational management of the team, including prioritising workload.
* Contribute to strategic planning and ongoing development of PIMH within the service.
* Promote a culture of compassionate, inclusive leadership and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications and experience
* Degree in Health Visiting (SCPHN) or equivalent – registered with the NMC & holding mentorship qualification.
* Undertaken modules at Masters level (or holding a Master’s qualification in a relevant area).
* Specialist qualification, knowledge or training in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Clinical leadership experience and up-to-date clinical practice.
* Experience within PIMH, including assessment and management at a universal level.
* Ability to manage time and caseload effectively.
* Strong collaboration and partnership working skills.
* Proven ability to embed best practice and drive continuous improvement.
