Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to deliver mathematics and science modules to Level 2 engineering students. As part of our academic team, you will help students build strong foundational knowledge in engineering mathematics and mechanics — preparing them for further study or direct entry into industry. Key Responsibilities: Teach maths and science modules relevant to mechanical engineering (e.g. differentiation, calculus, trigonometry, thermodynamics, forces of motion) to Level 2 students in a classroom‑based setting. Plan and deliver engaging lessons and practical learning sessions. Prepare lesson plans and produce micro‑teaching material as part of the assessment process. Monitor and assess student progress, offering support and guidance as needed. Maintain accurate records and contribute to course documentation and reporting. Collaborate with other teaching staff to ensure consistency and quality across the engineering programme. Encourage and support positive student behaviour, attainment, and retention. Person Specification / What We Are Looking For A strong background in mechanical engineering (academic qualification and/or industry experience). Competent in teaching key mathematical concepts relevant to engineering: differentiation, calculus, trigonometry, thermodynamics, mechanics, and forces of motion. Able to design and deliver clear lesson plans, differentiate teaching appropriately, and adapt delivery to student needs. Comfortable working exclusively in a classroom-based environment (no workshop teaching required). Proactive, student-centred, and confident in managing and motivating learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for supporting further‑education students.
