Hours: 33 hrs (Must be able to work on a Friday)

We are a friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking GP Practice committed to delivering high‑quality patient care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will work alongside our GPs, nurses, and administrative team to provide safe, effective, and patient‑centred care and support the smooth running of clinics.
Key Responsibilities
* Phlebotomy
* Blood pressure and pulse checks
* Temperature and oxygen saturation measurement
* ECG recording
* Height, weight, BMI and waist measurements
* NHS Health Checks
* Chronic disease monitoring support
* Urinalysis and dipstick testing
* Wound care and dressings (if trained)
* Administer vaccinations (if appropriately trained)
* Chaperone clinicians when required
* Support minor surgery and women’s health clinics (e.g., coil/implant)
* Assist with clinician procedures and clinic support
* Assist in management of long‑term condition recall systems
* Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and equipment
* Accurately document clinical information in SystmOne
* Maintain high standards of infection control and cleanliness
* Maintain stock levels and equipment checks
* Participate in audits, clinical meetings and service improvement initiatives
* Process specimens for laboratory collection
* Follow practice policies, protocols and safeguarding procedures
Wollaton Park Medical Practice is a well‑established practice serving a list size of 10,700 patients. Our team includes 7 GP Partners, a dedicated Practice Manager and highly skilled Nursing, Pharmacy, Administration and Reception teams. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach, strong leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Experience as a Health Care Assistant (preferably in a GP practice or primary care)
* Good communication, empathy and patient‑care skills
* Ability to work independently and within a multi‑disciplinary team
* Competent IT skills and willingness to learn clinical systems
Desirable Skills
* Care Certificate or equivalent HCA qualification
* Experience with SystmOne
* Chronic disease monitoring experience
* Vaccine training and competency
* ECG
* Wound Care
* Support for Minor Surgery
* Understanding of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
