Overall purpose of role : Assisting with setup, testing and fault finding of control systems for all Matcon equipment and producing supporting documentation as well as providing day to day technical support and guidance to others within the department. Key Responsibilities: Leading the team of Controls Technicians to ensure timely completion of work and offering technical support and guidance when needed. Performing installation setup and testing of control systems. Machine wiring support including Panel work (hole punching, lash wiring). Downloading of PLC control software into test system. Calibration of associated equipment such as Load cells, height sensors. Create and develop robust Test documentation. Filing of test procedures to ensure audit trail is maintained. Liaison with Project Management department and Factory Team Lead on project deliverables. Overseeing all technical administration work and ensuring completion within a timely manner, and in line with contract milestones. Look at stock levels for regularly used kit including cabling and wiring and lease with purchasing to produce manageable system. Working with the Controls Engineers to keep all control systems, mechanical and electromechanical devices operating according to the basis of design. Ensuring all Controls Equipment meets Matcon standards. Supporting R&D efforts with machine build and test. Ensure as built Autocad Electrical drawings and information are up to date. Skills & Abilities: Ability to read and understand technical documents and schematic design specification to an expert level. A proven understanding of controls systems and manufacturing methods. Competent with wiring single and 3-phase equipment Proficient with various types of instrumentation such as Proximity sensors, load cells, RFID. An excellent problem solver and trouble-shooter. Use of computer aided design and software development. Excellent communicator, both written and verbal. Ability to lead and support other team members fostering career development. Enthusiastic, well organised and has an attention for detail. Experience & Qualifications : Electrical/controls HNC or equivalent. Proven electrical / engineering experience gained in panel-building, wiring, soldering, cable termination and familiarity with BS7671 18th Edition IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) wiring regulations. Experience with Factory Acceptance Tests and documents preferable. Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred but not essential. Location and any travel requirements : Matcon Head Office, Evesham, Worcestershire, UK. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required to support installation or commissioning activities.
