Indirect Tax Manager
This role is responsible for ensuring smooth communication lines regarding VAT across the business. It will also ensure VAT compliance across complex billing systems, integrates tax processes into operational platforms, and drives improvements in tax reporting and controls, combining VAT expertise, systems knowledge, and project management skills.
This role will be well suited to someone who is looking for a broad role, with a heavier focus on advisory and project work.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory
* You will support the Head of Indirect Tax with ongoing projects and business partnering to internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide VAT advisory support on a range of matters including transactions, supply chain, contracts and general business queries.
* Keep up to date on VAT legislative changes that may have an impact on the business.
* Offer guidance on VAT-efficient process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
* Conduct reviews of contractual terms to ensure VAT compliance and mitigate risks.
* Support strategic decision-making by identifying and advising on VAT risks and opportunities.
Compliance and Systems
* Ensure VAT compliance in billing platforms and address complex tax scenarios.
* Review and analyse VAT returns and resolve discrepancies.
* Act as a key point of contact for audits and collaborate with authorities.
* Analyse large datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvements.
* Develop dashboards to monitor VAT compliance and highlight risks.
* Implement VAT controls and ensure systems reflect updates.
* Support operational teams in completing controls and reviews.
* Collaborate with finance, IT, and operations to address VAT challenges.
* Train teams on VAT compliance processes.
Requirements
* Qualified tax professional, with a mixture of practice and inhouse experience is preferred
* Strong business partnering capabilities, able to provide relevant and easy to understand VAT advice
* Expertise in VAT compliance in complex billing systems.
* Understanding of VAT regulations in energy sectors is preferred
* Project management experience delivering tax system enhancements
