Painting & Decorating Tutor - Prison Education Location: Rochester £35,000 - £39,000 About the Role: Academics is recruiting a skilled and motivated Painting & Decorating Tutor to deliver vocational training within a prison education setting in Rochester. This is a rewarding opportunity to support adult learners in developing practical trade skills that can improve their employment prospects on release. You will deliver structured, hands-on training sessions covering painting, decorating, surface preparation, wallpapering, and related techniques. Learners may be working towards accredited qualifications or developing essential employability skills. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high-quality Painting & Decorating training sessions to adult learners Deliver practical, workshop-based learning in accordance with health & safety procedures Support learners working towards vocational qualifications or industry-recognised certificates Adapt teaching methods to meet a range of abilities and learning needs Monitor and record learner progress, achievements, and attendance Work collaboratively with Academics, prison staff, and other education providers Maintain a safe, organised workshop environment and follow prison security guidelines Requirements: Relevant Painting & Decorating qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, AET, DET, or willingness to work towards one) Experience delivering vocational training or mentoring learners in a workshop setting Strong communication, behaviour management, and organisational skills Enhanced DBS and ability to obtain prison clearance
