Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of control systems for a wide range of actuator products.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PTC Creo, although individuals with strong proficiency in other 3D CAD tools may also be considered. The successful applicant will be expected to lead and deliver a broad spectrum of engineering activities, ensuring full compliance with applicable processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
What Do You Need?:
Degree/HND/HNC qualification with experience in Mechanical Design and Development in Electronics packaging, preferably in Defence or Aerospace industries.
Proficiency in PCB Enclosure design for harsh environments, considering factors like shock, vibration, climatic conditions, and electromagnetic effects.
Strong knowledge and experience in design for manufacture and design for assembly.
Demonstrated ability to lead mechanical designs and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, understanding and addressing associated challenges.
Familiarity with proving and qualification activities to ensure compliance with requirements.
Robust design experience across the Product Life Cycle (CADMID).
Experience in engaging and developing suppliers across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
Advantageous to understand structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis.
