AutoProtect Group have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Legal Counsel to join our Finance department on a 12 month fixed contract in Harlow, Essex.

The Role
To deliver comprehensive legal support to the business as the Group's legal advisor and ensuring the effective management and oversight of all contractual and legal obligations.
What You'll Do:
* Liaising closely with APG departments including Finance, HR, Commercial, Sales, Compliance, Operations, IT, Data, claims, and other to support the teams with contract matters, including drafting, negotiation and management.
* Draft, review, negotiate and advise on the preparation of all contracts, licenses, and other legal agreements
* Work with internal stakeholders to increase awareness and skills in relation to contract management and legal risk, partnering with key individuals within the organisation to identify potential legal issues as they arise
* Supporting senior leadership, and in some cases lead the management of key contractual disputes, crisis, conflicts with consumers, customers authorities, competitors or other stakeholders.
* Supporting the Data Protection Officer on technical Data Subject Access Requests
* Supporting the Compliance officer on technical consumer related complaints
* Offering relevant information and opinion on current, upcoming, and proposed changes to the UK's legal landscape impacting the Group
* Leading major project contract reviews and ensuring compliance
* Acting as the primary point of contact when liaising with external council on legal and contractual matters
* Co-ordinating the business's defence on any legal matters arising
* Setting up the process to maintain a contract library for all supplier / distributer contracts
* To provide subject matter expertise and informed opinion to the APG Board and Exec
* Other reasonable duties as required.

Personal Attributes:
* A high level of legal and commercial awareness including knowledge of current contract legislation
* Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively to a diverse audience, and to explain complex legal and regulatory principles
Essential:
* Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a legal / business discipline
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar legal role
* Experience in providing general legal support within an in-house environment, ideally in Financial Services industry
* Previous knowledge of reviewing different contract legal and commercial terms
* Solid understanding of: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* The practical and technical requirements of the FCA, ICO and any other relevant regulatory and trade bodies
Pay & hours:
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 depending on experience
Working hours: 4 days per week (28.0 hours per week)
