Graduate Automation Design Engineer Location: Hull (East Yorkshire) Salary: £(phone number removed)/annum (negotiable) Type of role: Full-time, Permanent Role Purpose We currently recruit for a Graduate Automation Design Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer operating within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. The Graduate Project Engineer (Automation – Electrical & Controls) is responsible for supporting design and delivery of innovative automation solutions within the manufacturing environment. The role is crucial for enhancing our automation capabilities, ensuring safe and efficient implementation of new systems and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Key Responsibilities • Support the delivery of automation engineering projects, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule and technical specifications • Guarantee all machinery and installations comply with safety standards and are supported by current technical documentation. • Foster and support adherence to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives across the plant • Maintain high standards of documentation and project reporting • Provide hands-on support with a proactive, solution-focused approach • Uphold housekeeping and quality standards across all automation installations • Support flexible working hours as required to meet business needs • Maintain full visibility of projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring clear communication across teams • Collaborate with account managers, production and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of new assets. • Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimations and timeline analyses for new automation initiatives Knowledge & Skills • Proficiency in 2D and 3D design packages (e.g AutoCAD, Fusion260, SolidWorks). • Experience in creating and managing Bills of Materials (BoMs) (advantageous) • Understanding of automated machinery in FMCG or similar environments (advantegous) Experience • Proven experience carrying out mechanical/electrical designs for automated production equipment (advantageous) Qualifications • HND or degree in an engineering discipline What’s on Offer Competitive salary package Long-term career progression opportunities within a stable and growing business A chance to work in a supportive environment where your input into continuous improvement is valued Interested?
