The role
We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Global Health and Ageing Research to join the Global Health and Ageing Research (GHAR) Unit. This post offers up to three years of funded post-doctoral training for an academic physician with expertise in ageing who aims to develop into an established clinical academic in global health and ageing.
What will you be doing?
1. Working within a multidisciplinary, international team to deliver high-quality research aligned with the aims of the Global Health and Ageing Research programme, based at Bristol Medical School.
2. Providing clinical research expertise into established programmes of work within the Global Health and Ageing Research programme, including in Zimbabwe.
3. Developing a comprehensive portfolio of your own ageing research, with national and international collaborations, working towards research independence.
4. Applying as PI and Co-I for grants/fellowships to support your research independence.
5. Building research expertise through publishing articles in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, presenting at national and international conferences, engaging with communities, and collaborating with colleagues worldwide.
6. Ensuring the smooth running of research activities, working with international teams.
7. Contributing to the life of the Unit, School, and University, such as speaking at events, participating in committees, and teaching as appropriate.
You should apply if
1. You hold a medical degree, a PhD, and an NTN or CCT.
2. You aspire to become an independent researcher in global health and ageing research.
3. You have experience conducting high-quality research in age-related diseases in resource-limited settings.
4. You possess a strong publication record, including first-author publications, in open-access peer-reviewed journals.
5. You have contributed to research proposal development and/or supported successful funding applications.
6. You can manage your workload effectively, multitasking across different activities and countries to deliver projects on time.
7. You are capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary, international team spanning two continents.
8. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating clarity of expression.
Additional information
1. Contract type: Open-ended with fixed funding (3 years).
2. Work pattern: Part-time 0.5 FTE.
3. Grade: Clinical Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (XCSL).
4. Salary: Clinical Lecturer Grade XCLC in the range £44,159 - £81,777 p.a. (pro-rata).
5. Clinical Senior Lecturer Grade XCSL in the range £68,215 - £95,511 p.a. (pro-rata).
6. School/Unit: Bristol Medical School.
7. Shift pattern: 20 hours per week.
