We are looking for a consumer rights solicitor in the UK on EU Regulation 261/2004.
Role Overview
Fully Remote position - We are seeking a skilled and client-focused Solicitor to specialize in EU Regulation 261/2004 (EC 261) and related UK aviation passenger rights.
The successful candidate will represent clients in claims for flight delays, cancellations, denied boarding, and other air passenger rights issues, with a strong emphasis on consumer rights, negotiation with airlines, and, when appropriate, formal avenues such as Small Claims Court or tribunals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and issue professional letters of claim, pre-action protocol communications, and formal court/tribunal petitions where appropriate.
- Represent our customers in negotiations with airlines and their representatives; pursue or defend claims in Small Claims Court, County Court, or appropriate tribunals; escalate to higher courts when needed.
- Manage a diverse caseload from intake to resolution, including fact-finding, evidence gathering (e.g., flight records, booking details, communications), and coordinating with service providers.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, data protection (GDPR), conflict checks, and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with paralegals, case managers, and external vendors (e.g., experts, translators) to support complex claims.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), or Maltese/Scottish equivalents with UK practice readiness
- Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in EU Regulation 261/2004 claims or aviation/consumer rights law.
- demonstrable track record handling EC 261/2004 claims or related aviation passenger rights cases; familiarity with case law and regulatory developments.
- Strong knowledge of UK consumer protection law, Civil Procedure Rules (likely Small Claims Track), and procedure for aviation-related claims.
- Experience communicating with airlines, regulators (e.g., CAA), and ADR bodies; experience with the European Court of Justice interpretations is advantageous.
- Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with attention to detail and client care.
