Your New Company

A leading organisation within London’s transport network, committed to delivering safe, reliable, and responsive infrastructure services across the capital. Supporting key contracts including highways maintenance and tunnel operations, they play a vital role in keeping London moving while ensuring incidents are managed efficiently and disruption is minimised.

With a strong focus on collaboration, safety, and innovation, the organisation fosters a supportive environment where employees are empowered to grow and contribute to essential public services. Their wellbeing strategy reflects a commitment to mental, physical, and financial health, ensuring their people remain at the heart of everything they do.

The Role

As a London Control Centre Room Operator, you will act as a central point of contact within a 24/7 service control centre, supporting critical transport operations across London. You will play a key role in incident response, coordinating resources and ensuring effective communication between internal teams, emergency services, and external stakeholders.

Working on a shift-based rota (including nights), you will monitor and manage incidents across the network, using a variety of systems including GIS tools and communication platforms. You will be responsible for prioritising incoming calls, deploying support units, and ensuring accurate recording and reporting of incidents.

You will liaise closely with partners such as local authorities and emergency services, maintain communication with traffic control centres, and ensure that all relevant information is captured and shared appropriately. Your role will be essential in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting safe, timely responses across the transport network.

About You

We are seeking a proactive and resilient individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.

You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, including lone working during night shifts, and demonstrate a positive approach to change and problem-solving.

Some essentials include:

* Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively

* Strong communication skills across multiple channels (phone, radio, systems)

* Experience working under pressure and handling multiple tasks simultaneously

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems

* Confidence using or learning GIS and incident management tools

* Awareness of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to safe working practices

A collaborative mindset, reliability, and a focused approach to delivering high-quality service will be key to success in this role.
