Site Supervisor – Nature Based Solutions

The Opportunity
Binnies is recruiting a Site Supervisor to join our Solutions By Nature (SBN) team – this is not your typical construction role. SBN works with nature, designing and delivering environmental solutions that create long‑term resilience in the natural world, including:
* Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
* River restoration
* Fish passes
* Green infrastructure
* Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICWs)
Our work takes place in some of the UK’s most ecologically sensitive and visually striking environments – riverbanks, wetlands, floodplains and agricultural land. The role is suited to someone who enjoys being hands‑on, outdoors, and working in environments where no two days are the same.

The Role
As Site Supervisor, you will play a hands‑on leadership role in the day‑to‑day delivery of projects, supporting the Site Manager and taking ownership of site activities. You will be working in remote, natural environments—often around water—where attention to detail, safety and environmental awareness are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations & Delivery
* Manage daily site activities from mobilisation through to completion
* Supervise site operatives and subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered safely and efficiently
* Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure outputs meet specification
* Monitor progress against programme and escalat risks or issues
Environmental Stewardship
* Ensure all work is carried out with respect for sensitive ecosystems
* Support environmental controls and mitigation measures on site
* Work closely with ecologists, engineers and specialists
* Build strong relationships with landowners, farmers and local stakeholders
Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination
* Coordinate plant, materials and deliveries in line with programme
* Manage subcontractor performance and site logistics
* Support the Site Manager with planning and reporting
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
* Champion a strong safety culture across all site activities
* Ensure compliance with safe systems of work, particularly in water‑based and remote environments
* Lead by example in promoting safe behaviours and accountability
Wider Contribution
* Support other Binnies construction projects where required
* Contribute to continuous improvement in site delivery practices
Essential Requirements
* Experience in a Site Supervisor or Foreman‑level role within civils or construction
* Strong understanding of site operations and safe systems of work
* Experience supervising teams and subcontractors on active sites
* Ability to work in remote and non‑traditional construction environments
* Good communication skills with both site teams and external stakeholders
* Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
* Experience in environmental or nature‑based projects
* SSSTS or SMSTS
* First Aid at Work
* Knowledge of working in or around water environments
* Experience working with landowners or rural stakeholders
