About the role:
1. Undertake physical and mental health assessments for people who access our services whenindicatedby clinical need and ensureappropriate signposting/referral to primary care orappropriate secondaryhealth care services foridentifiedhealthissues.
2. Provide education, healthpromotionand screening for blood borne viruses (BBV). Provide Hepatitis B vaccinations whenindicated.
3. Contribute to CGL’s Naloxone Strategy by training staff and service users in the use of Naloxone. Ensuring Naloxone is distributed to service users at everyopportunity.
4. Develop therapeutic alliances with people who have substance misuse problems and develop effective partnerships withthem.
5. Ensure that procedures are constantly reviewed to promote best practice andevidencedbased practicein accordance withUK Guidelines on Clinical Management, NICE guidance, and CGL clinical protocols andprocedures.
6. Provideharm reduction advice to injecting service users, providing information and equipment and ensure all equipment is disposed ofsafely.
7. Record and input client data and information in order that the serviceoperateswithin contractual, administrative, and financialrequirements.
About you:
8. First level registered nurse with recent relevant post qualification experienceand a current PIN
9. Relevant recent experience of working within drug and alcohol treatment (desirable but not essential)
10. Sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions
11. Ability to assess and recovery plan service users and formulate writtenreports, asnecessary.
12. Clinical auditing skills to inform evaluation of the service andidentifyareas fordevelopment.
13. Employ a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towardsservice users and allstakeholders.
14. An understanding of the importance of professional integrity in relationships with service users, peers, and other relevant professionals
