Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across the UK, Spain, and Italy, in compliance with local legislation and company policies. They play a critical role in maintaining data integrity, resolving payroll discrepancies, and supporting audits, thereby contributing to employee satisfaction and operational efficiency.
This is a 13 - 14 month contract role. The position reports to the Senior Payroll Manager, is part of the Payroll Department located in Portsmouth, and is an on-site role.
What You Will Do
* Process monthly payrolls for UK, Spain, and Italy, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory requirements.
* Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external providers to validate payroll inputs and resolve queries.
* Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring data consistency across systems.
* Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing necessary documentation.
* Monitor changes in local payroll legislation and ensure processes remain compliant.
* Assist with payroll reporting and analytics to support business decisions.
Who You Are
* You are a detail-oriented and proactive payroll professional with a strong understanding of international payroll operations. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to delivering accurate and compliant payroll services.
* Proven experience in processing payroll for multiple countries, ideally including UK, Spain, and Italy.
* Strong knowledge of local payroll legislation, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
* Proficient in using payroll systems and Excel; experience with Workday or ADP is a plus.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.
* Must be objective and measurable, e.g., education, years of experience per job leveling guidelines; do not cap years of experience, include specific systems proficiency or industry experience. Do not include soft skills.
