We currently have an exciting opportunity for an School Counsellor at our secondary, co-educational 11-18 school located on Southwark Bridge Road, on the former site of Southwark Fire Station.
The School Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, mental health, and inclusion of students at Haberdashers' Borough Academy. Working at the heart of the pastoral team, the counsellor provides early intervention for pupils experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and behavioural difficulties. Through one-to-one and group sessions, they help students develop coping strategies, emotional resilience, and confidence. The role also involves close collaboration with safeguarding, SEND, welfare, and attendance teams to identify students in need and coordinate appropriate support. The counsellor contributes to safeguarding reports, attends multi-agency meetings, and leads home visits for students with persistent absence, ensuring no child is left behind. This is a deeply impactful position, central to the Academy's commitment to nurturing kind, resilient, and aspirational young people in a safe and inclusive environment.
