Main duties of the job
We are a system one practice and prefer someone familiar with this system. The role involves managing repeat prescriptions, issuing and reviewing them, attending clinical meetings, and supporting the reception team in streamlining prescription queries. The goal is to enable the clinical pharmacist to review complex requests and ensure high-quality, safe, and timely repeat prescribing while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities
* Support the Lead Pharmacist and team in daily operations.
* Assist the reception team with prescription queries, allowing pharmacists to review complex requests.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team supporting clinical pharmacists and clinicians, adhering to prescribing procedures.
* Participate in daily preparation of repeat prescriptions to ensure safety, quality, and timeliness.
* Promote cost-effective prescribing practices.
* Perform medicines reconciliation post-discharge and during care transfers.
* Maintain accurate medication records, including advice and actions taken.
* Coordinate with primary and secondary care colleagues for medication continuity.
* Engage in patient-facing roles to support effective medicine use and shared decision-making.
* Carry out medicines optimisation tasks, including administration checks and medication reviews.
* Support delivery of medicines optimisation schemes and safety audits.
* Provide expertise on public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice and addressing health inequalities.
* Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
* Participate in audits and quality assurance activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* Qualified and registered pharmacy technician with GPhC.
* Diploma Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services.
* Knowledge of drug laws.
* Interpersonal and communication skills.
* Customer-service orientation.
* Computer and database skills.
* Respect for confidentiality.
Desirable:
* Experience with SystmOne.
* Experience in primary care.
