HGV Technician
Have you ever wondered how those breathtaking overhead camera angles are achieved in movies, or how we get a bird's-eye view of a tee shot stroked down the middle of the fairway?
The chances are it’s because of powered access.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician to join our market-leading Specialist Vehicles Division at Nationwide Platforms. As a workshop-based HGV Technician, you will work within a busy depot as part of a team to inspect, repair, and maintain our HGV and light commercial vehicles. We look for people with an enthusiastic, proactive approach and the relevant qualifications or experience in the associated industries. This is a fantastic chance to use your HGV engineering skills and join the UK market leader in powered access.
In return, you'll receive a competitive salary, opportunities for overtime, ongoing training, 25 days holiday, pension, and life assurance.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support the Workshop Service Manager in the effective running of the Depot workshop within the region.
2. Carry out pre-delivery roadworthiness inspections (PDI) of machines at depot as required, and in conformance with manufacturer’s specifications, company policy, and regulations affecting use. Ensure no deficiencies or defects affect safe operation. Notify the workshop service manager of any defective or unsafe equipment.
3. Repair machines at depot to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specifications and company policy.
4. Complete planned preventative maintenance activities (PPM), including maintaining the appearance of the fleet to corporate standards.
5. Handover machines to customers and familiarize them with safe machine operation according to company procedures.
6. Act as an ambassador for the company, providing high standards of customer care, and maintaining politeness and professionalism. Relay customer queries to depot staff as needed.
7. Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, including engineer’s reports, off-hire, pre/delivery inspections, and service sheets.
8. Update systems on machine status changes, e.g., PDI completed, machine under repair, statutory inspections done.
9. Prepare vehicles (and trailers where applicable) for MOT test.
About you:
* Relevant HGV general maintenance qualification to level 3 and proven experience servicing and prepping vehicles to MOT standard.
* A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
* Understanding the importance of compliance with statutory and company policies regarding service/inspection schedules for roadworthiness.
* An HGV license would be advantageous.
