Posted: 16 February
Offer description

Grampian Growers Ltd is a farmer‑owned co‑operative supplying UK and international markets with daffodil flowers and bulbs, and seed and ware potatoes. Founded in 1970, the business plays a key role in Scottish agriculture, supporting growers, rural employment, and sustainable farming.

We are recruiting an Agricultural Production Manager (Succession Role) to work alongside and shadow our current Production Manager ahead of their planned retirement.

The Role

This is a hands‑on operational leadership role within a highly seasonal agricultural business. Over an initial 12‑month handover period, you will work through all processing seasons — flowers, bulbs, and potatoes — gaining full exposure to systems, SOPs, and day‑to‑day decision‑making.

Subject to performance, the role is expected to progress to Production Manager following this structured handover.

You will support the management of 3 permanent staff and up to 30 seasonal and casual workers during peak periods.

Key Responsibilities

* Support daily processing operations across flower, bulb, and potato seasons
* Organise labour, including seasonal staff, supervisors, and forklift drivers
* Coordinate grading, packing, loading, and dispatch for UK and export markets
* Assist with store management, intake planning, and stock movement records
* Arrange and oversee machinery setup, maintenance, cleaning, and repairs
* Liaise with growers, contractors, engineers, and labour suppliers
* Ensure safe working practices and compliance with operational requirements

About You

* Experience in agricultural or production operations
* Comfortable leading people in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
* Organised, practical, and calm under pressure
* Full clean UK driving licence
* Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
* Experience with fresh produce, bulbs, and/or potato processing
* Mechanical or maintenance experience

Benefits

* Full‑time role within a seasonal agricultural business, with workloads varying across the year
* Busier periods balanced by quieter phases, allowing time for planning and annual leave
* Competitive salary, based on experience
* Free access to Virtual Medical Care, including GP consultations and physiotherapy support
* Cycle‑to‑Work Scheme
* Living Wage Employer
* Living Pension Employer
* Structured 12‑month handover and mentoring
* Full exposure to all seasonal operations and SOPs
* Clear opportunity to progress into the Production Manager role

Why Join Us

If you enjoy being on the ground, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly, this role offers the chance to build a rewarding career in a farmer‑owned business committed to people, sustainability, and Scottish agriculture.

Closing Date

16th March 2026 (may close earlier if a suitable candidate is found)

To apply please send your CV to: info@grampiangrowers.co.uk
