Estimator

Reed Recruitment is currently hiring on behalf of our esteemed client in the West Lothian area for an experienced Estimator. This role is integral to supporting a growing business unit, preparing, and producing accurate cost estimates from the receipt of Tender enquiry to Tender Settlement stage, and achieving the Company’s Business Plan targets.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Deliver the Estimating process to ensure work is undertaken to commercial and qualitative performance standards in a timely manner.
* Plan and organise work to ensure it meets timely and qualitative objectives.
* Follow Company policies and procedures for the business.
* Provide estimating advice and commercial support to the Bid team, Regeneration and business wide as appropriate.
* Review and strengthen the bid process, taking advantage of any competitive edge.
* Take ownership of the timely processing of sub-contractor enquiries and liaise with the business buying teams/supply chain team as appropriate.
* Evaluate/negotiate sub-contractor’s quotations and produce competitive costs for packages.
* Review supply chain performance with divisional managers and address discrepancies.
* Identify and account for tender risks and review lost tenders for improvement opportunities.
* Develop and implement the use of data spreadsheets and databases for accurate cost estimates.
* Prepare accurate quantities from tender documents to maximise tender success.
* Implement a consistent internal tender settlement/reconciliation report and handover process.
* Liaise regularly with the Bid Manager and Senior Management teams.
* Develop and maintain pricing master’s by analysing estimating information trends.
* Work closely with Commercial teams on the CVR process and post-project commercial review/reconciliation.
* Responsible for tender estimates/price build-up across divisional work streams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience coordinating with the work of others and managing own workload under pressure.
* Proven experience as an Estimator for a main contractor in the construction industry.
* Previous experience in the Energy Services or Social Housing sectors is ideal.
* Knowledge of JCT Form of Contract, schedules of rates, specifications and drawings, bills of quantities, cost value reconciliation, and frameworks.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Excel and Word.
* HNC/HND in a construction-related subject is desirable.
* Minimum of grade C in Mathematics and English or equivalent qualification
Desirable:
* Building-related degree.
* MCIOB, MRICS, or ARICS.
