Overview
An amazing job opportunity has arisen for a committed Occupational Therapist to work in an exceptional hospital setting based in the Dewsbury, West Yorkshire area. You will be working for one of UKs leading health care providers.
This hospital provides a specialist inpatient service for adults and older age males with severe and enduring mental health conditions, who may also have an undiagnosed memory related illness. Our client also provides a specialist neuro:cognitive and dementia care service for males presenting with very agitated or aggressive behaviour.
To be considered for this position you must hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.
Responsibilities
* Work across our rehabilitation and recovery wards, with the support of two OTAs.
* Apply OT assessments and interventions, 1:1 with patients and lead group work.
* Support patients to engage in the therapeutic programme delivered in conjunction with psychology and nursing colleagues.
* Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to identify patients’ occupational needs.
* Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients; promptly refer unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences to more senior staff and document appropriately.
* Ensure accurate updating of clinical records and computerised information systems in a timely manner.
Qualifications and experience
* Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
* Experience of working in inpatient mental health services or a similar role is desirable.
* Experience in line managing and supervising junior colleagues is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in mental health and an understanding of the value of engagement in meaningful occupations.
* Compassion, enthusiasm, creativity and proactive attitude.
