Accounts Assistant – Hitchin Perfect for AAT Studiers
SRM Recruitment is proud to be supporting a highly reputable organisation in their search for an Accounts Assistant based in Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT studier or someone early in their finance career who is eager to develop strong accounting skills within a supportive, friendly and fast‑paced finance team.
About the Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and smooth running of everyday finance processes. You will gain hands‑on experience across multiple areas including journals, reconciliations, cost reporting and supporting audits. This role provides a strong foundation for someone progressing through their AAT qualification and looking to develop into more senior accounting responsibilities in the future.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing cost reports and departmental budget information
* Process journals, credit notes and support balance sheet reconciliations
* Help audit customer rebates and financial claims
* Assist with internal and external audits, tax pack preparation and compliance‑related tasks
* Participate in stock counts and ensure cycle count accuracy
* Support ongoing process improvements and ad hoc finance projects
What We’re Looking For
* AAT studier
* Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data accuracy)
* Some experience in a finance or accounts role is beneficial
