We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the nursing team on Towy Ward at Glangwili General Hospital. Towy is a 20-bed General Medical ward specialising in Cardiology and Endocrinology Medicine.

Responsibilities
The post holder will provide visible, professional nursing leadership developing the core nursing team in the delivery of compassionate, high quality, patient-centred nursing care. They will be expected to lead by example, empowering the team to maintain patient safety and improve patient care/experience, ensuring high standards of nursing care. Effective communication skills are pivotal to this role; the post holder will develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with clinical specialists from across nursing and the wider multidisciplinary team, working in partnership to meet patient needs. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach. The successful candidate will have experience working within an acute medical setting and will be a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, acting as a key link with service users and the wider clinical teams within Glangwili General Hospital in leading and supporting service delivery. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Knowledge – Essential
* Registered Nurse Part 1
* Current NMC Registration
* Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
* Pertinent postgraduate diploma or equivalent development and/or experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate postgraduate level study when in post
* Bronze IQT
* Teaching and/or Coaching qualification or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of legislation pertinent to role
Desirable
* Recognised management qualification
* Recognised leadership qualification
* Experience of leading a team
* Masters degree in pertinent subject
Experience – Essential
* Proven and relevant experience at Band 6
* Appropriate experience within the specialty and sound knowledge of the relevant specialty
* Sound knowledge of NMC Code 2018
* Proven post-registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
* Aware of professional issues and developments
* Evidence of leadership skills
* Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
* Experience in budget management
* Experience of effective staff management; running a ward, area or department
* Experience mentoring pre-registration nursing or midwifery students
* IT skills
* Able to relate theory into practice through reflective skills
* Good knowledge of information governance and data protection requirements

* Experience of working in a Band 7 role
* Understanding of financial and resource management processes
