The Equipment Support Group (ESG) is responsible for the installation, uptime reliability and yield performance of high‑tech state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing equipment used in the cleanroom production of magnetic thin‑film heads. Core processes include photolithography, vacuum deposition/etching, electroplating and metrology, similar to semiconductor wafer fabs.
The ESG group works closely with Process, Facilities, R&D and Industrial Engineering to deliver best‑in‑class results for these high‑cost capital assets. We welcome individuals from all relevant engineering disciplines.
About the role
You will be responsible for the performance of these complex and specialized manufacturing systems, liaising with OEM engineers from worldwide suppliers and internal engineers and technicians from other functional groups. A blend of hands‑on troubleshooting and data analysis will keep you challenged every day.
Main Tasks
* Collect, analyse and interpret equipment performance data to drive more effective decision making
* Develop and automate KPIs and strategies for early detection and control
* Plan and coordinate equipment installation and EHS considerations
* Maximise equipment throughput and yield performance
* Troubleshoot, diagnose and manage machine hard‑down events
* Continuously improve by introducing new engineering projects that reduce tool failures
* Develop design changes to improve performance
* Participate and lead cross‑functional teams and projects
* Collaborate and communicate with Seagate sites in the USA and Asia
About you

You Have
* Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills, and the ability to lead projects to improve process control and production throughput by advancing machine capability and reliability
* Curiosity to expand and progress knowledge around new methods that achieve challenging project goals
* Capacity to balance large workloads and prioritise what is important to the company’s success
* Confidence to work individually or as part of a team, depending on requirements
* A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
* Hands‑on ability and willingness to learn fundamental electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
Your experience includes
* Preferably an engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering or a related field, with extensive relevant engineering experience that demonstrates your ability to meet and exceed the demands of this role
* Or, an engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in a related field with limited relevant experience but the ability to adapt and meet the role requirements
* Or, extensive engineering experience in wafer fabrication/semiconductor sector with a proven track record
